List of Shelters in the Area:

  • Nassau County -  http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/agencies/oem/hurricane/shelter.html
Pets are not allowed in shelters. It is crucial that you make sheltering plans for your own pet(s). Contact the Pet Safe Coalition Inc. to learn more about sheltering in an evacuation emergency. Pet Safe Coalition can be reached at 516-676-0808 or www.petsafecoalition.org. Only working “service” animals are allowed in Nassau County shelters but you must have your own water, food, medicines, toys and other necessities for your “service” animal
  • Suffolk County - the Suffolk County Shelter list is currently down, we will update it as soon as its available.
Locally, pets are not allowed at emergency Red Cross public shelters. There is usually limited availability at the Suffolk Fire Academy in Yaphank, the Long Island Ducks Stadium and other county facilities.

In the event that the hurricane or tropical depression causes wide-spread damage in our area and you are unable to contact EIFS, we are providing you with a direct list of Disaster Response/Claims Contact phone numbers for all of our carriers.
